Platysmal Neck Bands
Both sides of your neck contain the platysmal bands, which are two muscles. Because the skin on the neck is much thinner than that on the face, and because the skin around your neck gradually sheds fat deposits and collagen as you age, these muscles tend to become more evident over time. They are usually well-hidden and only become obvious when you forcefully grimace or clench your teeth while exercising or under great stress. They may become more noticeable as you become older, generating what is known as a “turkey neck.”
The platysmal neckbands are present at all times. The only thing that changes throughout time is the frequency with which they become visible. The causes of neck age lines are genetics, loss of weight, stress, anxiety, and clenching your teeth.
When injected into the muscle, the treatment blocks the transmission of brain signals, resulting in the muscle’s hyperactivity being reduced. When injected into the neck’s vertical bands, it relaxes the dynamic muscles, making them less apparent and giving the neck a smoother, younger appearance. The effects usually last 4-6 months.
Before beginning your treatment, you must first have a consultation. This is true regardless of whether you have previously had anti-wrinkle injections elsewhere. This is so that we can discuss your medical history and ensure that the procedure is suitable for you, and ensure that you are entirely informed before beginning treatment.
You may have concerns regarding the safety of the anti-wrinkle treatment. This medicine has a lengthy history of usage, which gives it a high level of efficacy and safety. Wrinkle relaxing treatment is FDA-approved to treat wrinkles and fine lines, and there is a very low risk of side effects when performed by skilled, experienced specialists. Anti-wrinkle injections are appropriate for a broad spectrum of people, but there are some limitations to be aware of. This treatment is for healthy men and women who are at least 18 years old. It is not recommended for persons with certain underlying medical disorders, such as myasthenia gravis or motor neuron disease. This treatment is also not recommended if you are pregnant or have previously had an adverse reaction to the injections.
Most people don’t feel any discomfort during this procedure. We can use a light topical anaesthetic to numb the area beforehand if you are apprehensive about having this treatment or are fearful of needles. The skin may be red and inflamed after treatment, but you should be able to get back to work straight away.
After the initial treatment, it may take up to 2 weeks to get the full effects. The cosmetic results can last up to six months, but most require another treatment after 3-4 months. As wrinkles resurface, most people will require re-treatment.
However, as the unconscious muscular contraction habit is changed in some treated locations, the wrinkles may return less prominent following repeated treatments. We provide all of our patients with a free two-week follow-up session to check the treatment’s effectiveness and, if necessary, give any more treatments.
The majority of people report just modest local discomfort and tenderness as a result of the treatment. The injection site may be moderately swollen right after the treatment, but this usually goes away within 48 hours. It’s also possible to have some minor bruises. These medications have virtually no side effects.
An allergic reaction is possible. These medicines have been in use for more than 20 years and do not seem to have caused any long-term side effects.
Following your treatment, we will go through any aftercare instructions with you to ensure that you get the most out of your treatment and avoid any adverse side effects.
Dermal filler has a short downtime and recovery period so that you can get back to your daily routine right away. After the treatment, you can continue normal activities.
- For three days, avoid using skin care products containing retinol, vitamin C, Alpha Hydroxy Acids, and Beta Hydroxy Acids.
- Take a 12-hour break from wearing makeup.
- For the next 24 hours, avoid rubbing or scrubbing your face.
- For 24 hours, avoid direct sunshine, sunbathing, and sunbeds.
- Do not swim for 24 hours.
- Don’t do any vigorous exercise for the next 24 hours.
- Don’t drink too much alcohol for the next 24 hours.
- After treatment, stay upright for 4-6 hours. It will prevent the filler from migrating from the
treatment region to an unexpected area of the face.
- To prevent placing pressure on the treated region, sleep on your back. Because the hyaluronic acid filler is a gel, it can be crushed and moulded under pressure, compromising the effects.
